: The fact that I managed to find a bed to sleep in for the night. Everywhere else was booked : The beds are very uncomfortable. The rooms are out dated. And the locks on the entry door were broken. Paint peaking off the walls and doors. The coffee table menu had some kind of sticky stuff on it.

: Clean and freshly painted.
Quiet.
Nice rooms.
Comfortable.
Reasonable rates.
Actually very nice couple but probably in the wronG business. (Maybe dry cleaner is better?)
Nice small refrigerator and microwave.
Rooms are clean. : I would not recommend The Walden for a tourist only because it gives this town a scary undertone when the service industry appears rude and the environment suddenly felt more dirty and more dangerous than usual to have such ridiculous standards and guidelines to follow during what is suppose to be an enjoyable time. To be honest, this tumultuous experience added unnecessary stress and was remarkably run more like a county halfway house than a friendly and accommodating motel.
We were informed AFTER checking in, there were:
No pets allowed.
No visitors.
Not to bring bags or luggage into room.
Disappointingly paranoid and suspicious owners that hovered over guests indicated they receive questionable clientele and immediately gave the otherwise pleasant environment an unsettling atmosphere.
There was discrepency over the key deposit.
(Owners are married. Husband said $10 and wife said $5)
Our room had questionable electrical outlets that sparked upon connection so we refrained from utilizing.
There was also no sign of a much needed coffee pot to help facilitate the harassing checkout acquisitions encountered the following morning.
Tauntingly placed was an ashtray you were forbidden to use, where an alarm clock clearly would have been a more appropriate and appreciated accommodation.
Overly cautious and investigative staff appeared nosey with overbearing qualities.
*If their point is to make clientele feel like a nuisance or an unwanted guest in their home, then it is fair to say that they succeed in atleast one category.
Bottomline, if I wanted to be hassled with such strict guidelines during a simple overnight stay, I would have stayed with my parents.
The only thing missing from this experience was a curfew and bedtime. We were only 1 of 3 total guests at the Walden who, unfortunately, was the only reasonably priced motel during this weeks conferences. I would probably only stay here again in case of emergency. .
